Marvel Civil War - Original Series
I was able to find some high res copies of Marvel Civil War - issue 2, pages 20, 21 and 22. These were the pages where Spider-Man reveals his secret identity to the world. These were penciled by Steve McNiven and were a blast to work on.

Batman Cover
Here is the finished inks and pencils from the Batman Cover issue 700. The pencils were done by the talented David Finch. I really enjoyed working on these tight pencils. I did have some problems deciphering some of the images in the background, but overall I am very pleased with how this one turned out.

Update of sorts
I haven't posted in quite a while (damn near a year???). In my defense I have had a lot going on. I lost my job in August of 2016 and have since been focusing on my Artwork and comic book inking when I have time. It's really surprising that now that I don't work I seem to be more busy with errands and everything else versus when I was working. I think I actually had more free time when I was working....and I'm still trying to figure that out.
Regardless I've managed to get some good copies of penciled pages for inking and have been working on those. I'll be posting those soon. My plan is to submit my first batch of submissions in about a week. I currently have 4 pieces done that I believe are pretty damn good. I'm making a goal of uploading new artwork or a general update bi-weekly, hopefully more often.
And in case I haven't mentioned it in a while I am available for commissions and work and also for inking comic books. I am still working on my penciling skills, but have chosen to focus on inking for now.
By inking pages I can study how the original artist set the pace and timing of the story as well as the images. I feel as though I need more work in pace and timing in converting the script. And of course my anatomy and figure structure. Hey at least I recognize my weaknesses and I am working on them.

Third Inked Page
This page was a fun one because of the checkered background and all the characters in this page. This was one of the pages that was sent to me from DC Comics. They sent me 3 copies of pages, 2 Legends of the DC Universe and Green Lantern.
There are some rough spots on this page, I was still working on cross hatching skills and how to correct using the bleed proof white paint. Overall I'm happy with how this one turned out.
The inking process was completed mostly with Technical Pens, very little brush work.
Same process for transferring the page to a comic art board...tracing the page on a light box.

Second Inked Page
Here is my second inked page. This was the second page that was included in my inking kit from a long time ago.
Inked primarily with Technical Pens (Koh-I-Nor).
Page setup was the same as the previous post, page traced over light box on a Blue Line Comic Art Board.
This page was from a Comic called "StormQuest" no issue or page number specified.
And here is the copy of the penciled page.
On a side note, I apologize that the pages have a blur and the pages aren't completely lining up in the middle. I'm having to scan the pages with 2 scans and put them together in Photoshop. I'm not that experienced in Photoshop so I'm learning as I go.

First Inked Page
Here is the first actual page I inked. It's been a long time since I worked on this piece. It was one of two pages that came with an inking kit. I have no idea who did the pencils. It was a page from a comic book titled "Blood and Roses" I don't have much information, but it looks like an interesting story.
This page was inked primarily with Technical pens.
My process then was to take the penciled page and place a blank comic art board (Blue Line in this case.) Line up the borders and lay them on a light box. From that point I traced over the pencils to have them on a Comic Art Board that would hold up to the inking process.

More… Why Not.
So in my newfound desire to tell stores with my artwork (Comic Books), I found some useful information from a new magazine at the local convenience store “Comic Scene International”. This was the first insight I had into the world of Comic Books. I now had some interviews with the creators, information about the various companies and comics coming out. There was very little on how to make comics, but it was a start. It wasn’t until the early 90’s and a magazine called “Wizard” that I really learned about the behind the scenes and how to stuff. But “Comic Scene International” was a good start. I still have the first issue and the few that I had of them, granted they are not in great shape.
My first issue of “Wizard” was number 11, right around the launch of Image Comics. There was an interview with Todd McFarlane and more information than I had previously had access to. So….yep, that was an important step for me.

It begins…..again and anew.
It was sometime in March 1987, I was 14 years old. There was a snow storm and school had been canceled for the next day. My neighbor wanted to walk to the local convenience store and stock up on supplies (chips, snacks and junk) for the next day, of course I was down for this so I got some money from my mom bundled up and walked to the store. We ran into some of our fellow classmates (2 girls who lived down the road) that were doing the same thing. We had a snowball fight and general fun in the snow on the way, that’s not the point of this story. When we were at the store I decided to buy some comic books for the duration of our snow day(s). Now I of course already had several comic books and was not new to this medium. I noticed two issues of a comic called “Zero Patrol” so I got them and a couple of others. When I got home (probably around 9 pm) I went in my room sat at my desk and started reading them. I lost myself in the story and artwork of the first issue. When I finished I had the thought “What an amazing way to tell a story.” It was at that moment I thought I wanted to tell stories with art. I had always enjoyed drawing various things, even some comic book characters (Superman, Batman, etc.). But never before did I stop to think that some people made a living doing this as their career. Even before opening the 2nd issue of “Zero Patrol” I had some paper and pencil in hand sketching images from the 1st issue. It was like something just clicked in myself and I was inspired. Then I hear a knock on my window, knowing it was my neighbor, I opened the curtains and window. He wanted me to sneak out and go with him to the girls’ house to watch some movies. I then realized I lost myself in drawing, I had gone through several sheets of paper and it was two hours later. So the point of the story is that I actually found something that inspired me and I Loved it…drawing, telling stories with images. From that moment on, I have wanted to tell stories with my artwork, so this is where I consider that my artistic journey actually began.
And yes, I went to Lisa’s house with him. No I didn’t actually have to sneak out, my mother was cool and let me, since she knew where I was going. But when we got there, they were already asleep, so it was a bust. I went home and read the 2nd issue of “Zero Patrol” and began drawing until I was ready to pass out for the night.
